Children are the most important resource of a country.
When countries are dealing with scarcity, hunger, illiteracy and insecurity, children have to be the main priority regardless of location. The situation which has been developing in Haiti for many years has now reached a “difficult to bear level” thus forcing the majority of Haitians to exile their country.
Local food production is at its lowest point and the prices for imported food supplies have become astronomically high and non affordable. In order for our humanitarian engagement to succeed, it is critical we keep our children well-nourished and in good health.
Financial support is crucial, particularly because people are living in desperation. Our organization, FOHO Haiti, shelters 72 children. We receive food from a Christian organization which is a sister nonprofit, but we need a minimum of $1,000.00 a month in order to cover expenses.
Our consumption of rice which is the main course each day is 20 lbs per day x 30 days = 600 lbs per month. The cost of one pound of rice is roughly $1.00. Using this number, a minimum monthly support of $600.00 is urgently needed. Our pantry for November is now empty.
