WSRF Felix Story - FOHO on Radio

Last Saturday, GRODYSH Int’l. President Reggie Jean and I were on the radio airwaves on WSRF Miami (we had gone down to Miami to network with the large Haitian community there) being interviewed about our activities with orphans and others in Haiti. The host opened up the phone lines for questions and the phone immediately started ringing. She answered and the listener wanted Reggie's cell phone #. The host looked at Reggie confused
and hesitant, and Reggie said that yes, it was OK to give out his # on the air. We immediately heard his cell phone ring outside the sound booth. After the show we went out and Reggie called back the #.

It was a former student of Reggie's (Reggie taught college in Haiti for 23 years) from 1982. He was living about 2 hours from Miami and said that a day didn't go by that he didn't think of Reggie. He had learned so much from Reggie and Reggie had so profoundly affected his life that he had prayed that one day he would be able to pay him back. He told Reggie not to change any of his plans, that wherever Reggie was going to be that night, he would be there.

We had been invited to meet some major powerful people at a small get-together at someone's house. The former student, Felix, drove 2 hours to see and talk to Reggie. He told everyone that Reggie was the best teacher he'd ever had. He said that Reggie was very creative in his teaching, and he would make sure that every single student totally understood what they were supposed to learn. He said that Reggie would take a difficult subject like Math and make it easy. He also gave an example of a philosophical lesson Reggie had taught him that he used all the time in his life. He had told them that no matter how bad the situation is, you take responsibility and don't give up.

This was only one student of thousands Reggie taught over 23 years.

We are honored to have Claude Reginald Jean as the President of GRODYSH Int'l, Inc. - the Future of Haiti Organization.
